The East Regional Arts and Culture Center, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Burapha University, was established through the collaboration of professors from the Department of Arts and Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Srinakharinwirot University, Bangsaen (currently Burapha University). It began with a policy to establish an arts center in 1975 to provide a versatile and all-encompassing place for various art-related activities and to allow local people to experience and appreciate traditional and contemporary art forms.
The year 1999 was a significant period for the East Regional Arts and Culture Center at Burapha University because the center’s management had been striving to achieve its objectives for nearly 20 years (1975-1999). Furthermore, Prime Minister, Mr. Chuan Leekpai, showed support for the center and officially documented his support on December 24, 1998. Subsequently, on February 23, 1999, Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai officially announced the approval of funding for the East Regional Arts and Culture Center project for the fiscal year 2000, with a budget of 70 million baht at Government House. This enabled the construction of the center to be completed.
On Wednesday, December 27, 2006, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the official opening of the East Regional Arts and Culture Center, along with a permanent cultural and contemporary art exhibition.
